Hello all!! With the playing of last Thursday's McDonald's/OJC All-Star basketball games, we've wrapped up our 2007-2008 sports broadcast season on KBLJ & KTHN. A great big THANK YOU to all of our coaches and school officials, players, parents and fans, and to all of our sponsors through out the season. Also, an extra special set of kudos to everyone who contributes to our broadcasts: My partner, Coach Chas Phillips (thanks for making me sound good!), also Craig Phillips, Mark Grasmick, Dave Bomar (couldn't do wrestling without you...), Don Rizutto and Jim Herrell (thanks for standing in at short notice...), John Tomky of www.myhometeamsports.com , Kevin Schaffer of www.coloradopreps.com , Erik Stone of our sister station KLMR in Lamar, and, to Greg, Alec, and the crew at Network1Sports.com. And of course, I can't forget Jan Hines, Adrian Hart, and, the hardest working woman in radio, Dolores Cox, our crew in the studio. Thanks for all of your contributions!!
It'll be a busy summer here in the Arkansas Valley for us at KBLJ/KTHN, what with coverage of all of our area fairs, parades and festivals, we'll be there bringing them to you locally all summer long.
Have a great summer, see you at the pool!! PM
Hello again! Well, we're not quite done with the 2007/2008 sports season, as we jump back onto the hardwood to bring you the 14th annual McDonald's of La Junta/Otero Junior College High School All-Star basketball games Thursday (5/22) night. We'll be featuring graduating senior hoopsters from all of our area high schools, along with schools from all across southern Colorado. Girls will tip at 6pm mtn, boys are scheduled for 8pm mtn. It's always a fun time, the games are highly anticipated by fans and players alike. Coach Phillips and I will have all the action for you from McDivitt Center Gymnasium at Otero Junior College locally on 92.1 FM KTHN, and, as always, right here on Network1Sports.com.
See you at the gym!! PM
Hello all! After a week off, we're back at it Saturday May 10th, chasing the Rocky Ford Meloneers to the Colorado Class 2A Regon 3 tournament at the Runyon Sports Complex in Pueblo. The Meloneers will square of against Cotapaxi at 12:30pm mtn on the Hobbs Field. If (when...) they dispatch Cotapaxi, they'll face either Holly or Custer County in the Regional Championship game, set for 3:00pm mtn. Regional Champion will play in the state semi-finals Friday, May 16th, also at the Runyon Sports Complex. All the action on 92.1fm KTHN, and here on Network1Sports.com.
For you Holly Wildcat fans, the Coach and I will be bringing you the call of the Holly/Custer County game on 93.5 KLMR-FM.
See you at the ballpark! PM
Hello all! It's time for the baseball post season, and we start our coverage of the Colorado Class 2A District 6 Tournament from Babcock Park in Rocky Ford on Saturday. We'll hit the air at 9:45am mtn, our first game is at 10am, featuring the host Rocky Ford Meloneers vs the Wiley Panthers. Game 2, set for around 12:30pm mtn, pits the Las Animas Trojans against the Holly Wildcats. The District Championship game will go around 3pm mtn, with the previous game's winners doing battle.
Rocky Ford, by virtue of winning the Santa Fe League title is protected, and is assured of advancing to next weekend's regional tourney at Runyon Field in Pueblo, even if they lose to Wiley (don't think so...). If Rocky Ford plays in the championship game, the winner will be #1 seed out of District 6, loser will be #2. If the Meloneers lose to Wiley, Rocky will be the #2 seed, the District Champion will be #1, the loser of Championship will be done. You know we're pulling for the Meloneers and the Trojans to meet for the District title.....
Again, coverage starts at 9:45am mtn on 92.1fm KTHN, and, here on Network1sports.com
See you at the ballpark!! PM
